The Trust funds work that supports the welfare and morale of the regimental family, including hardship relief, mental health and rehabilitation support, and access to sports, recreation, and ceremonial activities. Grants are available for heritage maintenance, commemorative events, and the upkeep of memorabilia. The Trust also supports regimental associations for reunions and parades, and organisations that assist with veteran welfare, military transition, or historical conservation within the regimental family. Funding is available for activities in England and Wales, primarily for regimental members. The Trust emphasises esprit de corps through morale-boosting initiatives and the preservation of regimental heritage.

Eligible applicants include serving and former personnel of The Queen's Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry) and its predecessor regiments, as well as their spouses, widows, and dependants. Organisations closely linked to the Regiment, such as regimental associations, and charities or community groups advancing veteran welfare, military transition, or historical conservation within the regimental family, may also apply. The Trust supports individuals and organisations based in England and Wales. There are no income thresholds, but applicants must have a direct connection to the regimental family.

The Trust does not support causes or organisations outside the regimental family. It prioritises personal, targeted aid over bureaucratic processes, so non-affiliated charities, community groups, or individuals without a direct link to the Regiment are not considered for funding.

The Trust provides swift, flexible grants for both individual hardship and organisational projects. Funding is available for specific purposes such as sports, recreation, ceremonial events, and heritage maintenance. The Trust works by invitation only, with decisions made internally through a relationship-based approach rather than accepting unsolicited applications.
