C B Dennis British Beekeepers' Research Trust

The Trust funds research on any species of bee, including honeybees, bumblebees, and solitary bees, as well as work that has a clear benefit to bees or beekeeping (such as disease management, environmental stressors, or pollination biology). It supports research projects, CASE studentships, and small research projects. Travel bursaries are available for UK-based researchers to present their work at national and international conferences. Grants are primarily for British bee-related research, but projects at European universities or laboratories may also be funded if they demonstrate clear benefits to UK beekeeping. The Trust does not fund direct support to beekeepers or beekeeping associations.

Applications are encouraged from young bee scientists with appropriate qualified academic supervision. The Trust considers individual researchers, universities, and research institutions. Projects should be based in the UK or Europe, with priority given to those that benefit UK beekeeping. There is no religious restriction. The Trust does not accept applications from beekeepers or beekeeping associations for direct support.

The Trust does not fund direct support to beekeepers or beekeeping associations. This excludes activities such as equipment, apiary maintenance, or operational costs for beekeeping groups. It does not fund general core costs, capital projects, or initiatives that do not have a research or education focus.

The Trust makes research grants and travel bursaries. It supports both project costs and conference attendance. Unsolicited applications are welcome. The Trust encourages early-career researchers and offers CASE studentships as part of its funding. All grants are awarded on a per-project basis.
