Catherine Cookson Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a wide range of charitable purposes, with particular focus on young people and disadvantaged groups, health and medical, education and training, arts and culture, environment and conservation, and general charitable purposes. Specific areas include education and skills, children and youth, disability, poverty and hardship, community development, refugee and migrant support, mental and physical health, and older people. The Trust supports capital works and equipment, enabling organisations to improve their facilities and services. All funded work must be delivered in North East England.

Only registered charities based or working in North East England are eligible to apply. The Trust particularly supports projects that benefit young people, disadvantaged groups, disabled people, older people, refugees, homeless people, and the general public. Charities should demonstrate that their work aligns with the Trust's focus areas and serves the local community. The Trust does not consider applications from individuals, schools, faith groups, or sports clubs.

The Trust does not fund core costs, salaries, or ongoing running expenses. It excludes applications from individuals, schools, faith groups, sports clubs, and sports associations. Projects with a foreign element (outside the UK) are not funded. The Trust also does not consider personal applications from individuals.

The Trust provides grants for capital works and equipment. It welcomes unsolicited applications from registered charities working in North East England. Grants are awarded for specific projects that involve tangible improvements such as building renovations, equipment purchases, and infrastructure upgrades.
