Charlotte Marshall Charitable Trust

The Trust prioritises education and training, Catholic religious activities, health and life-saving efforts, disability support, poverty relief, and aid for children, youth, elderly, and disabled individuals. Funding supports UK charities and voluntary bodies delivering core activities, projects, capacity building, infrastructure, and direct services. While the Trust has a strong Catholic emphasis, with the majority of its income directed to projects benefiting UK Roman Catholics, the remainder is allocated to broader UK causes, with a focus on England and Wales. Grants have supported work in areas such as homelessness, employment, welfare, respite care, and faith-based advocacy.

Eligible organisations are exclusively UK-registered charities, typically small to medium-sized entities operating within the United Kingdom. The Trust supports charities that align with its focus areas, including those serving children, youth, elderly people, and individuals with disabilities. Organisations rooted in or serving the Catholic community are particularly welcomed, although broader UK charities may also be considered. The Trust does not accept unsolicited applications; charities are identified and invited by the trustees based on their discretion and knowledge of the sector.

The Trust does not provide funding to individuals or non-registered entities, including unincorporated associations or informal groups. It also does not support organisations based outside the United Kingdom, as its focus is on UK-based charities. Because the Trust operates entirely by invitation, it does not accept unsolicited applications, proposals, or appeals from charities that have not been proactively contacted by the trustees. There is no scope for general fundraising requests or speculative approaches.

The Trust operates on an invite-only basis, with charities proactively selected by trustees at their discretion. There is no public application process. Funding decisions are guided by the trustees' judgment and historical priorities, without a formal theory of change.
