Chips Charity

Chips Charity funds the purchase of specialised powered wheelchairs for individual children and young people with varying disabilities. The charity works across Great Britain, supporting families who have been unable to secure a suitable wheelchair through statutory provision. The equipment funded is bespoke, designed to meet the specific mobility needs of each child, helping with conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spinal injuries, and rare syndromes. The charity does not fund sporting chairs, running costs, or core funding for groups.

Applications are accepted from families of individual children and young people with disabilities who require a powered wheelchair that is not available through statutory services. The charity supports children across Great Britain. Organisations, registered charities, schools, and community groups are not eligible. There are no income or religious restrictions; the focus is on the child's need for specialist mobility equipment.

Chips Charity does not fund sporting chairs (such as those for football or powerball), running costs, or core funding for organisations. It also does not support generic projects, equipment for organisations, or any applications from groups or charities. The charity exclusively funds bespoke powered wheelchairs for individual children.

Chips Charity purchases the powered wheelchairs directly, ensuring every donation goes towards the equipment. The charity takes a personal approach, with trustees meeting recipient families to verify need and deliver the chair. Unsolicited applications are welcome, and the charity awards grants on a rolling basis as funds are available. It does not provide cash grants to families; instead, it procures the wheelchair directly.
