Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, an independent charity registered in 1996 and fully independent since July 2023, supports patients, research, and innovations at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust across Merseyside and Cheshire. Led by a board of trustees and patrons like Daniel Craig, its mission is to enhance cancer care through state-of-the-art treatments, clinical trials, wellbeing initiatives, and technology not covered by standard NHS funding. Rooted in compassion, evidence-based progress, openness, accountability, and patient-centricity, it drives tangible improvements in diagnosis, treatment, and recovery for adults, children, families, and staff.

The charity funds pioneering research across cancers like pancreatic and breast, innovative technologies such as AI for prostate radiotherapy, expanded counseling and palliative care, mental health and fitness coaching, creative wellbeing activities, and home-based care. Projects emphasize measurable outcomes, including £150,000 for secondary breast cancer research and £45,000 for AI-driven therapy, all channeled to internal Clatterbridge teams, patient services, and partnerships.

Exclusively supporting Clatterbridge sites in Wirral, Liverpool, and Aintree, it does not accept unsolicited applications from external charities or organizations—funding is reserved for internal NHS-linked initiatives with no income/size restrictions specified. There are no public deadlines or application processes; decisions are made internally by trustees. Distinctively, as the sole philanthropic arm for the Centre, it prioritizes NHS-aligned, regionally focused innovations, excluding unrestricted or external grants while ensuring value-for-money public benefit.
