Cruden Foundation Ltd

The Foundation funds a wide range of causes including community development, health, education and skills, arts and culture, sport and recreation, environment, poverty and hardship, disability, older people, children and youth, and mental health. Within these areas, it supports medical research, conservation, and community welfare initiatives. Grants can be used for core costs, project delivery, or as unrestricted funding, giving charities flexibility. The Foundation focuses its grants on charities working in Central Scotland, Lothians, Clydeside, Stirlingshire, Clackmannanshire, Ayrshire, Fife and the Scottish Borders. Charities must be based in Scotland to apply.

Only registered charities based in Scotland are eligible to apply. The Foundation particularly welcomes applications from smaller charities with lower reserves, as it aims to support organisations that may struggle to access mainstream funding. Beneficiaries of funded work include the general public, disabled people, homeless people, carers, unemployed individuals, children, young people and older people. There is no religious restriction. Charities must be working in the specified geographic areas of Central and Southern Scotland.

The Foundation does not fund capital works, such as building projects or equipment purchases. It also excludes activities that are generally the responsibility of local health authorities, education authorities or similar statutory bodies. Grants are not made to individuals.

The Foundation makes one-off grants and does not offer multi-year funding. It supports core costs, unrestricted needs and project delivery, giving charities flexibility in how they use the funds. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible charities.
