Culham St Gabriel's Trust

The Trust has one priority: an education in religion and worldviews. Current priority areas include parental understanding of this field, pupil voice, engagement with local communities, reaching ‘unreached’ teachers, and initial teacher education. They fund projects, research, and practice that enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy, as well as scholarships for teachers pursuing masters and doctoral studies, and leadership development. Work is supported across the United Kingdom, with a focus on England and Wales.

The Trust supports educators, school leaders, researchers, and organisations working in religion and worldviews education. Eligible applicants include registered charities, community groups, and faith groups based in the UK, with strongest alignment for activities in England and Wales. They also fund individuals through scholarship programmes for masters, doctoral, and leadership studies. There is no income threshold, supporting both small grassroots and larger national entities.

The Trust does not fund religious proselytising or religious instruction (as opposed to religious education/religion and worldviews), RE programmes delivered by external groups visiting schools, building costs, ongoing running expenses, deficit reduction, or teaching resources/textbooks. For project grants, they also exclude core costs, capital works, salaries, and feasibility studies.

The Trust offers project grants as one-off funding, and scholarship programmes that are multi-year. Match funding is not required for project grants or doctoral scholarships, but is required for masters scholarships. They welcome unsolicited applications.
