The Foundation prioritises regional organisations over national charities. It supports work with disadvantaged individuals, children and young people, older people, people with disabilities, and those facing poverty or hardship.

The Foundation does not fund core costs or salaries. It generally does not support national charities, unless exceptional circumstances apply. Organisations based outside its geographic focus areas are unlikely to receive funding, again unless exceptional circumstances are demonstrated.

The Foundation prefers to fund specific projects rather than core costs or salaries. Grants are typically awarded to organisations the trustees know well, reflecting a relationship-driven approach. The Foundation values long-term partnerships and maintains close contact with grantees, often visiting projects. Unsolicited applications are accepted.
