International Orthodontics Foundation

IOF funds project-based research grants, professional development opportunities, symposia and initiatives that enhance clinical practice and oral health in underserved areas. Priorities include innovative translational research, education elevation and direct patient care. They support cross-border knowledge transfer and international collaboration. Work can take place anywhere globally, provided the applicant is a UK-registered charity or academic institution. The Foundation supports a range of activities within orthodontics, from scientific and clinical research to educational programmes and direct patient care initiatives, with a focus on projects that demonstrate innovation and potential to improve patient outcomes.

The Foundation welcomes applications from UK-registered charities, universities, hospitals and research centres. They also support individual practitioners and researchers at various career stages, typically through their host institutions. There are no geographic restrictions on where the funded work takes place, and no income or size limits for applicant organisations. Beneficiaries include underserved communities and patients worldwide, with a focus on improving oral health outcomes.

The Foundation does not fund core costs, overheads or activities outside the field of orthodontics. It also excludes projects unrelated to orthodontic care, research or education.
