Jean Corsan Foundation

The foundation supports research into Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other neurodegenerative conditions including Parkinson's and motor neuron disease. It funds early-career researchers through prizes for breakthrough scientific papers, sponsors dedicated research posts at leading universities, and backs strategic initiatives such as clinical acceleration programmes that move promising treatments from laboratory to patient trials. Areas of research interest include cognitive decline, neuronal degeneration, neuroinflammation, synaptic dysfunction, biomarkers, and therapeutic interventions. The foundation also promotes public education on brain health, risk factors, and emerging therapies. Its work operates throughout England and Wales, with a focus on UK-based research communities.

The foundation prioritises individual researchers, particularly early-career scientists such as UK-based PhD and MD/PhD students, rather than organisations. It is open to those working in universities and clinical settings whose research addresses neurodegeneration relevant to Alzheimer's and related brain disorders. Support ultimately benefits elderly people, families, and carers facing dementia's challenges, but funding goes directly to researchers. Researchers across England and Wales are eligible, and the foundation operates without religious restrictions.

The foundation does not support non-research activities, and it does not provide project or unrestricted grants to external charities through open calls. Work that falls outside neurodegeneration relevance or lacks scientific quality is excluded.
