Lancaster Foundation

The foundation funds project delivery in the areas of faith, children and youth, and community development. It supports these projects both in the UK and internationally, with a particular emphasis on Christian initiatives. Additionally, community-based projects in the area of Clitheroe, Lancashire, are eligible even without a Christian focus. Beneficiaries include young people and the general public. The foundation does not fund capital works, research, events, or emergency appeals, and focuses on practical project costs rather than running expenses.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities that have filed at least one set of accounts with the Charity Commission. Organisations must demonstrate a Christian ethos in their charitable objectives, except for community-based projects in the Clitheroe, Lancashire area, which may apply without a Christian focus. The foundation prioritises projects that benefit young people and the general public. Non-UK registered charities are not eligible, and charities without a Christian ethos are generally excluded outside of the Clitheroe exception.

The foundation does not fund capital works, research, events, or emergency appeals. It also excludes church running costs, projects already funded within the last three years, and new projects in Africa. Non-UK registered charities and charities without a Christian ethos (except Clitheroe community projects) are not supported.

The foundation funds project delivery costs and does not require match funding. For larger strategic or multi-year grants, funding is by invitation only, through the foundation's partners scheme. The general programme provides one-off project grants, and unsolicited applications are accepted for this programme.
