Mishkan Yerushulayim

Mishkan Yerushulayim is a UK-registered charity and private company limited by guarantee, dedicated exclusively to supporting Orthodox Jewish religious organisations and providing philanthropic aid within the Jewish community. Its core mission, rooted in the Shulchon Oruch, focuses on relieving poverty among poor, aged, and infirm Orthodox Jews; advancing traditional Orthodox education; and strengthening religious practice to ensure community continuity, welfare, and dignity. Guided by values of piety, charity, and communal responsibility, it adopts a traditional grant-making approach, prioritising long-established institutions over innovation or trends, with trustees exercising strategic control to sustain essential religious, educational, and welfare frameworks.

The funder supports three key themes: direct relief for Orthodox Jews in hardship (especially the vulnerable elderly and poor), promotion of Orthodox scholarship and religious education, and bolstering traditional institutions like schools and welfare organisations. Grants cover revenue costs, programmatic activities, core operations, and capital projects such as infrastructure, always aligned with Orthodox doctrines and serving UK-based communities, primarily in London and nationwide.

Eligible applicants are strictly UK-registered charities operating in the UK, with a preference for medium-to-large, established Orthodox Jewish entities upholding traditional standards—no unsolicited applications are accepted, as grants are awarded at trustees' discretion to pre-selected recipients via adhoc board meetings (no deadlines or public process). Typical grants range from £10,000 to £50,000 annually, occasionally higher for major needs.

Distinctively Orthodox-only, it excludes non-Jewish, secular, Reform/Progressive, international, individual, or grassroots causes, maintaining unwavering doctrinal fidelity and a focus on enduring communal impact rather than short-term or experimental initiatives.
