National Institute of Agricultural Botany Trust

The Trust's funding is directed solely to NIAB's work in sustainable agriculture, horticulture and arboriculture. This includes applied crop research, variety trials, plant breeding, lab testing, education and farmer training. It prioritises activities that generate practical innovations in crop productivity, resilience and sustainability, such as public-good plant breeding, performance evaluations, contract research and leadership development through university collaborations. The work primarily benefits England and Wales, while also supporting international partnerships. These efforts aim to deliver knowledge that enhances environmental conservation and agricultural viability.

Because the Trust exists to support NIAB as an internal institution, it does not welcome unsolicited applications or fund external organisations. Instead, the ultimate beneficiaries of its work are UK farmers, growers, educators, researchers and the public. There are no size, income or geographic restrictions for those who benefit from NIAB's research and training, but outside groups should not expect direct grant funding.
