The Trust supports work across three programmes. In education, it funds extra-curricular artistic and sporting activities for children and young people, nurturing ability and talent. In health, it focuses on maintaining the mental health of children and young people and supporting people with dementia. In social welfare, it helps refugees and asylum seekers, and people without secure homes and food. A separate environment programme supports local initiatives that help biodiversity and the natural environment, and challenges environmentally damaging activities. This work can take place internationally when led by UK charities. The Trust funds core costs, salaries, project delivery and capital works.

The Trust supports UK-registered charities. It does not fund statutory bodies, large national charities with widespread support, or organisations not registered with the Charity Commission. The Trust prioritises smaller and medium-sized organisations. It does not fund Community Interest Companies or social enterprises. Beneficiaries include children, young people, older people, refugees and homeless people.

It also excludes individuals, exhibitions, conferences or events, the promotion of religion, work outside the UK (except for environmental charities), large capital appeals, endowment appeals, and individuals volunteering overseas.

The Trust favours a selective, invitation-only approach, building relationships with charities whose work aligns closely with its priorities. It will consider grants of up to three years. The Trust funds core costs, salaries, project delivery and capital works.
