Norman Garon Trust

The Trust funds work in children and youth, mental health, disability, poverty and hardship, education and skills, sport and recreation, and community development. It supports project delivery, equipment, and events such as scouting programmes, after-school sports clubs, sports bursaries for school pupils facing barriers, and health and wellbeing initiatives for less able young people. Environmental enhancement projects like tree planting and habitat creation are also funded, with a preference for projects linking sports with environmental action. All funded activities take place in Southend-on-Sea.

Registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs), community interest companies (CICs), and community groups based in Southend-on-Sea are eligible to apply. The Trust prioritises grassroots youth organisations, scouting groups, and projects serving children, young people, older people, and disabled people. Local roots in the Southend-on-Sea area are essential.

The Trust does not support work that falls outside its youth focus, activities primarily for adults, or initiatives that take place beyond the local Essex coastal communities of Southend-on-Sea, Sutton, and Rochford.

The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and typically supports project delivery, equipment, and events. It favours partnership models that integrate facility access with capacity building, prioritising scouting organisations and youth charities serving less able children.
