Northwood Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a broad spectrum of charitable activities, including arts and culture, disaster and emergency services, education and training, environment, healthcare, mental health, sport, and physical activity. Grants support capital projects, revenue needs, core costs, services, and initiatives driving community development, heritage preservation, and inclusion. The Trust has a strong focus on grassroots efforts and primarily supports organisations operating in Dundee and Tayside, with secondary priority given to Angus, Perth & Kinross, Fife, Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire, and Inverness-shire. Work elsewhere in Scotland may also be considered.

Eligible applicants are registered charities, preferably small- to medium-sized community-based organisations. The Trust prioritises charities that work with carers, children and young people, older people, those with ill-health or disabilities, and women and girls. Local roots in the Dundee and Tayside area are especially valued. There are no religious restrictions, and the Trust welcomes applications from a wide range of charitable causes aligned with its mission.

The Trust does not fund individuals or organisations that are not registered charities. It also does not typically support large national entities, preferring to focus on grassroots changemakers. Funding is limited to projects and activities within its priority geographic areas in Scotland.

The Trust adopts a relationship-focused approach, working by invitation and favouring proposals from mission-aligned partners rather than open calls. It provides flexible support for both capital projects and revenue needs, including core costs. The Trust seeks high-impact local projects that address Scotland's social challenges.
