The Trust funds projects focused on physical health, mental health, and disability. Support covers equipment purchase, training, capital works, project delivery, and events. Grants are available for work that takes place in York and its immediate surroundings. National or regional charities are only considered where there is strong evidence of direct delivery in York. The Trust prioritises local organisations addressing real need and maximising return on funding through strong volunteer involvement. Beneficiaries include people of all ages experiencing illness, injury, disability, or mental health challenges.

Main Grants are open to registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, and community interest companies working in York. Grants for the Support of Individuals are available to a wider range of organisations including registered charities, community groups, social enterprises, faith groups, and schools. Direct applications from individuals are not accepted; individual support must be channelled through a third-party referee such as a social worker or health professional. The Trust prioritises local organisations that demonstrate strong volunteer support and address real, locally identified needs in York.

The Trust does not fund core costs, salaries, or make direct payments to individuals or suppliers. The Trust offers both one-off and multi-year grants. Multi-year funding is considered on a reducing basis. Unsolicited applications are welcome.
