There is a particular emphasis on Christian need, though there is no religious restriction on applicants. The Trust prefers to support small to medium-sized organisations addressing local priorities, and unsolicited applications are accepted.

The Trust does not fund salaries, ongoing running costs, or general national appeals. It does not provide ongoing or multi-year support, preferring to make one-off grants. Church fabric grants are redirected to the Norfolk Churches Trust.
