Rotherham Federation of Communities Ltd

The Federation funds community-led initiatives that address local challenges such as isolation and disadvantage, and promote social cohesion and resident empowerment. Cause areas include community development, youth activities, support for older people, and education. Examples of supported work include projects like the RotherFed Friendship Calls, which tackle loneliness, as well as skills development and group formation. All funding is restricted to groups based strictly within Rotherham Borough. Support covers both project costs and core running expenses, alongside practical help such as insurance, accountancy assistance, and advice on group formation.

Eligibility is limited to small, local community groups, tenants’ and residents’ associations, and communities of interest that are based within Rotherham Borough. The Federation prioritises grassroots organisations working with young people, older individuals, and isolated residents. There is no formal income threshold, but the focus is on smaller, community-led entities. Groups must be part of the Federation’s membership network to receive funding; unsolicited applications are not accepted. No faith-based restrictions apply.

The Federation does not fund capital projects, unrestricted grants, or external grant rounds. It also does not accept requests from groups outside Rotherham Borough or from organisations that are not already part of its membership network. Larger national charities are not prioritised.

Support is flexible and relationship-based.
