Royal Hospital Chelsea Appeal Limited

The Appeal supports a wide range of initiatives that directly improve the lives of Chelsea Pensioners. This includes capital projects such as the construction and refurbishment of care facilities, estate restorations, and the creation of wellbeing spaces, allotments, and activity centres. They also fund advanced medical care, social programmes, and outreach to vulnerable groups, including homeless or imprisoned veterans. All funding is directed exclusively to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in central London, with a focus on holistic wellbeing, community, and sustainability. The work is needs-led, developed in close collaboration with hospital leadership to address the most pressing priorities for veterans' quality of life.

As a single-beneficiary funder, the Appeal only supports the Royal Hospital Chelsea. No other organisations are eligible for funding, regardless of their size, income, or location. The beneficiaries are the Chelsea Pensioners themselves – elderly British Army veterans who reside at the Hospital. The Appeal does not accept unsolicited applications from external charities or other entities; all funding decisions are made internally in partnership with hospital leadership.

The Appeal does not fund any external charities, broader UK causes, or organisations other than the Royal Hospital Chelsea. It also does not provide unrestricted grants or support initiatives outside the Hospital's remit. All funding is strictly limited to the Hospital's needs and priorities.

The Appeal provides grants for capital projects and running cost shortfalls not covered by Ministry of Defence funding. Funding is allocated on a rolling basis, determined internally through annual strategic planning, and is not open to unsolicited applications. The approach is collaborative, with the Appeal working closely with hospital leadership to identify and support the most impactful initiatives for veterans' welfare.
