Royal Signals Charity

The Royal Signals Charity, rooted in the Royal Corps of Signals founded in 1920, is a dedicated benevolent fund providing swift support to serving, retired, reserve personnel, and their dependent families across the UK. Governed by Royal Signals Trustee Limited with trustees from senior Corps members, it embodies comradeship, duty, and service, fostering esprit de corps, morale, wellbeing, and lifelong connections through responsive welfare and targeted investments that bridge gaps in state provision.

It prioritises hardship relief—such as mobility equipment, home adaptations, and cost-of-living aid—alongside funding for sports, adventurous training, professional development, heritage preservation at the Royal Signals Museum, commemorative events, and achievement recognition. Support extends to Corps units, branches, and vulnerable individuals, often in partnership with SSAFA and The Royal British Legion, emphasising physical/mental health, resilience, and community events to enhance Corps effectiveness.

Eligibility is strictly limited to those with formal Royal Signals affiliation; no unsolicited applications from individuals or charities are accepted—requests must be referred via SSAFA, TRBL, or recognised welfare authorities for casework verification. UK-wide geographic focus applies with no income thresholds or entity type restrictions beyond Corps links.

Grants, processed on a rolling basis (with quarterly trustee meetings for larger awards), typically range from hundreds to low thousands of pounds for individuals and £1,000–£10,000+ for projects or organisations, totalling over £1.8 million annually. It excludes unaffiliated entities or general core funding, distinguishing itself through unparalleled integration into Corps life, from urgent aid to heritage and social vitality.
