Schroder 1905 Trust

The Trust funds three areas: direct poverty relief through living expenses and welfare services; advancement of education, particularly for orphans and young people needing financial aid; and support for German churches, including pastors' welfare, recreational wellbeing, and core operational costs. Grants are provided for project and core costs rather than capital projects. Geographically, the Trust is open across England and Wales but places a strong emphasis on London, where many German-speaking communities are concentrated. The supported work includes cultural, educational, and religious activities that preserve German heritage and provide direct aid to vulnerable individuals.

The Trust funds UK-registered charities, community groups, and faith-based organisations that have a proven track record of serving the German-speaking community. Beneficiaries must be individuals of German nationality, origin, or descent, or their dependants, particularly those experiencing poverty, age-related needs, illness, disability, or social exclusion. The Trust works with a select group of longstanding partner organisations and does not consider unsolicited applications from new or unconnected groups. There is no religious restriction on the organisations it supports, but the focus remains on the German diaspora.

The Trust does not fund generalist causes that are not specifically targeted at the German community. It also excludes capital projects, such as building works or equipment purchases, concentrating instead on project and core costs. Funding is not available for organisations outside its established network of partners.

The Trust provides project and core funding to its longstanding partner organisations. It does not accept unsolicited applications, working instead by invitation and through long-term relationships. Grants are made from its investment income and are directed exclusively to its established partners.
