Sir John Fisher Foundation

The Foundation supports a broad range of charitable activities that benefit the general public across the Barrow-in-Furness area and its surrounding towns and villages. It particularly welcomes applications from smaller, locally based organisations that have limited access to other sources of core funding. The focus is on core revenue funding for locally driven work that strengthens community resilience and capacity.

Registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, social enterprises, and community groups rooted in the Barrow-in-Furness area and surrounding towns and villages are eligible. The Foundation particularly encourages smaller, locally based organisations with limited access to other sources of core funding to apply. All applicants must demonstrate clear community benefit.

The Foundation does not support capital works, one-off events, short-term projects, retrospective funding, pressure groups, lobbying, expeditions, or sponsorship. It also excludes a number of cause areas, including faith, animals, environment, domestic abuse, criminal justice, armed forces, refugees and migrants, carers, employment, homelessness, sport and recreation, and heritage.

The Foundation provides one-off core revenue grants to support locally driven work. It welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible organisations. Funding is directed towards strengthening community resilience and capacity, with a preference for smaller, locally based organisations.
