Spurrell Charitable Trust

The Trust funds core activities for children and young people, including those in care, care leavers, and those at risk of exclusion, through youth work, mentoring, after-school clubs, and transitional support to prevent homelessness and family breakdown. It supports elderly care encompassing day services, befriending, social isolation relief, and residential provision for seniors with mobility issues or dementia. Disability services are funded for people with physical disabilities, neurological conditions, learning disabilities, complex health needs, autism spectrum disorder, and ADHD, via therapeutic activities, respite care, peer support groups, employment training, and inclusive community outreach. The Trust prioritises preventative, person-centred, trauma-informed approaches, tackling poverty, social isolation, carer exhaustion, youth unemployment, and barriers to independence. It operates throughout England and Wales, with a particular focus on strengthening local Norfolk communities.

The Spurrell Charitable Trust only funds registered charities. It seeks established, proven providers with evidence-based, sustainable models. Priority beneficiary groups include children and young people aged 5-25, isolated elderly individuals, families caring for disabled members, and adults with chronic neurological or physical disabilities. While the Trust operates throughout England and Wales, it places a strong emphasis on charities serving Norfolk communities. Organisations should have a track record of core service delivery and be able to demonstrate long-term stability. There are no faith-based restrictions on eligibility.

The Trust does not support project-based initiatives, capital campaigns, innovation initiatives, or new or unproven organisations. It also excludes funding for aftercare or symptomatic relief that does not address root causes, and it does not fund direct service delivery in isolation from core operational support.

The Trust makes long-term, repeat grants to a stable portfolio of national and regional charities, providing unrestricted core funding to bolster organisational sustainability. It favours established providers and welcomes unsolicited applications. Funding is characterised by a conservative, family-led approach focused on enduring partnerships rather than one-off or project-based support.
