Strongbones Children's Charitable Trust

The Trust funds support for children and young people with bone conditions, including those with wheelchair dependency, complex health needs, or receiving palliative care. It covers specialist equipment, such as profiling beds and adapted trikes, as well as core costs, emergency hardship grants, food vouchers, and home fuel payments. Respite breaks and hospital balloon surprises are also offered. The charity focuses entirely on individuals and does not fund groups or charities. All support is available to families living in England, Wales, or Scotland.

Applications are accepted from families of children and young people aged 3 to 21 who have a bone condition and live in England, Wales, or Scotland. Priority is given to those who are wheelchair dependent, have complex health needs, or are receiving palliative care. New applicants must also be in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment. The Trust supports individuals directly, not organisations or groups.

The Trust does not accept applications for children or young people who use electric wheelchairs. It does not fund groups, charities, or other organisations; support is for individuals only. Applications for conditions other than bone conditions are not considered.

The Trust provides one-off grants for equipment, core costs, and emergency hardship, including food vouchers and fuel payments. It also funds respite breaks and hospital surprises. Applications are assessed by a panel that includes trustees, parent ambassadors, and specialists, reflecting a lived-experience approach. The charity welcomes direct applications from eligible families.
