Talbot Trusts

The trusts fund environment, physical health, and mental health causes, with a stated priority for groups that enable people to go outside into their local green spaces. They support both core costs and project delivery, working across Sheffield and surrounding areas: Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, and Rotherham. Supported activities include respite care, habitat restoration, carer relief, and tackling social isolation, with a focus on grassroots enhancements to statutory services in deprived areas. Grants are modest in size and aim for high-impact support of local charities and community groups.

The trusts fund registered charities and community groups operating in Sheffield and surrounding areas: Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, and Rotherham. They prioritise organisations led by local people, based in or serving deprived areas ranked below the national average for deprivation, and with an income under a significant threshold. Beneficiaries must be residents of these target areas, with a focus on those who are sick, disabled, or disadvantaged. There is no religious restriction.

The trusts do not fund activities that take place outside their target area of Sheffield, Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, and Rotherham. They also exclude projects that do not clearly benefit people living in deprived areas (ranked below the national average for deprivation), and organisations that are not led by people who live and work in the target area.

The trusts make grants on a one-off basis and welcome unsolicited applications. They support both core costs and project delivery, with a preference for grassroots, community-led efforts that address local health inequalities.
