Examples from its history include intensive care ventilators, acute medical units, specialist beds, and dementia resources, as well as advanced diagnostic and treatment tools such as HD endoscopes, digital scanners, and VR therapies. Grants deliver tangible benefits in critical care, diagnostics, patient comfort, and technological advancement. The catchment served is the Torbay and South Devon population, and the aim is always immediate, practical impact that goes beyond NHS core funding.

Only projects initiated by Torbay Hospital are eligible. The League does not fund external charities or organisations, and there are no income or size thresholds for the hospital's own applications. The ultimate beneficiaries are the hospital's patients and staff, along with the wider Torbay and South Devon catchment population. Because all bids are identified and vetted by the hospital, individual community groups or external bodies cannot apply directly. The League's hyper-local, hospital-partnered approach ensures that support is targeted, sustainable, and closely aligned with local healthcare needs.
