The Foundation funds a generalist range of activities aligned with its core objects, including education and training programmes, poverty alleviation initiatives, and other work that delivers community benefits. Support covers project costs, core funding, and general charitable expenditure. The Foundation prioritises measurable alignment with its objects over niche thematic focuses. All funded work must benefit London, particularly the City of London area.

Eligible applicants are exclusively UK-registered charities and voluntary bodies that are based in or deliver benefits within London. The Foundation tends to support medium-to-larger organisations with established track records; very small or grassroots groups are unlikely to be a good fit. There is no strict income threshold for eligibility, but unsolicited applications are not accepted, as funding is by invitation only at the trustees' discretion.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for-profit organisations, or for capital projects. Work that takes place outside London is not supported. It also avoids open competitions and narrow strategic silos, preferring to identify established charities through its own trustee-led process.

The Foundation provides flexible grant support, covering both project costs and core funding.
