Aberlour Children’s Charity, formerly Aberlour Child Care Trust, is a pioneering Scottish children’s charity founded in 1875 to support ‘mitherless bairns,’ evolving from a major orphanage into a leader in tailored services for disadvantaged children, young people, and families across Scotland. Its vision is a Scotland where every child has an equal chance, with a mission to bravely combat poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination through early intervention, amplifying children’s voices, and advocating for systemic change. Eligibility is strictly for Scottish residents; families cannot apply directly—applications require endorsement by professional sponsors (e.g., social workers, teachers, or third-sector workers) via a simple online form, with no unsolicited organisational proposals accepted. Grants are small (£100–£500), awarded on a rolling basis with rapid decisions prioritising urgency, subject to available funds.

Aberlour does not fund capital projects, core costs, organisational development, or non-Scottish applicants, distinguishing itself through hyper-responsive, sponsor-mediated crisis aid integrated with frontline services and policy advocacy for Scotland’s most excluded children.
