Aberlour Child Care Trust

The Trust funds emergency support for families with children up to 21 (or 25 if care experienced) who are living on a low income and have experienced a crisis affecting their wellbeing, development or education. Grants can be used for food, clothing (including school uniforms), beds and bedding, white goods, help with utilities, and other household items. The fund takes a cash-first approach, prioritising comprehensive support for basic subsistence. All grants are for children and young people residing in Scotland.

Families with children aged 21 or younger (or up to 25 if the child is care experienced) who are on a low income and have experienced a significant crisis may be eligible. The family must be taking action to improve their situation. Applications are made through a professional sponsor, such as a social worker, teacher or third-sector worker, who can endorse the request. The fund is for families living in Scotland.

The Trust does not fund items or activities that are the government’s responsibility to provide. Support is not available for items for parents or carers, legal help, car insurance or repair bills. They also do not fund organisations asking for money to fund services they would provide themselves for a fee.

Aberlour provides one-off emergency cash grants through its Urgent Assistance Fund. The fund operates on a cash-first basis, with grants delivered quickly through professional sponsors who work directly with families. The Trust values professional trust and timely support, ensuring that families in crisis receive help without unnecessary delay.
