Alligator Trust

The Trust funds interventions tackling prevention and relief of poverty, including financial hardship support, food insecurity programmes, and employment training. It supports accommodation and housing projects such as homelessness prevention, supported housing, and shelter, as well as community development activities like befriending schemes, peer support groups, and outreach for isolated individuals and disadvantaged communities. Overseas aid and famine relief, faith-based counselling and spiritual care, health services, arts therapies, and general poverty alleviation are also within scope. It funds day services, drop-in centres, therapeutic activities, advocacy, mentoring, and small capital items for community infrastructure. Geographically, the Trust supports organisations throughout England and Wales, with some funding directed to overseas aid.

Registered charities and community groups can apply, with a focus on grassroots organisations serving vulnerable people. Priority beneficiary groups include children, young people, elderly residents, carers, people with complex needs, families in poverty, homeless individuals, care leavers, rural communities, and overseas populations in crisis. Faith-based initiatives are supported, with no religious restriction. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible organisations.

The Trust does not restrict funding to specific causes or regions, but it only supports registered charities and community groups. Individuals and non-charitable organisations are not funded.

The Alligator Trust offers unrestricted, project-specific, or core funding, with a preference for small-scale unrestricted grants. It also provides small capital grants for community infrastructure. The Trust welcomes unsolicited approaches and operates without thematic silos or regional bias, valuing pragmatic, trustee-led decision-making.
