Anthem. Music Fund Wales

Anthem funds music projects that benefit children and young people across Wales. They support a broad range of costs including project delivery, staff salaries, equipment, events, training, and core costs. Projects can be multi-year, allowing for sustained impact. The fund prioritises grassroots and community-led initiatives that remove barriers to music participation, with an emphasis on equity and inclusion. They do not support formal education activities or curriculum-based music, instead focusing on out-of-school music-making opportunities. The fund is open to charitable organisations, community interest companies, and community groups delivering projects in Wales.

Eligible applicants include registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, and community groups. They must be based in Wales and deliver projects that benefit children and young people in the country. The fund does not support schools or colleges, so applicants should be non-educational organisations. Beneficiaries are children and young people, with a focus on those facing barriers to music participation. The fund welcomes applications from grassroots organisations and does not impose strict income limits.

Anthem does not support capital works, faith-based activities, or educational institutions. They also exclude individual tuition fees for instrument lessons, equipment-only projects unless part of a broader initiative, and music curriculum activities linked to qualifications. Projects outside Wales or those already funded by the Youth Music Incubator or Trailblazer Funds are not eligible.

Anthem offers multi-year grants and funds both project costs and core costs. They do not require match funding. The fund does not cover pre-award costs, large capital expenses, recoverable VAT, or costs linked to political or religious promotion.
