The Foundation's work centres on two main areas. Inspiring Young Minds supports schools in Kent and East Sussex to run innovative projects for specific student cohorts or whole-school learning, including mental health and wellbeing initiatives. The Teaching and Training programme helps adults involved with children and young people with additional needs – such as specific learning difficulties or trauma – to access further education and training, so they can better support the young people they work with. Grants are awarded for project delivery and training costs, with a focus on proposals that address a clear level of need, bring innovation, and achieve measurable outcomes for students.

Schools in Kent and East Sussex are the main applicants for the Inspiring Young Minds programme; applications may be submitted by anyone on behalf of a school, but must be endorsed by the Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher. The Teaching and Training programme is open to schools, registered charities, and individual professionals contracted to such organisations. The Foundation supports work that benefits children and young people, including those with disabilities and additional needs. There is no religious restriction on applicants.

The Foundation makes grants through two distinct programmes, each with its own focus and applicant group. Awards are project- or training-based, and the Grant Award Team considers the level of need among the students who will benefit, the innovation of the proposal, and the outcomes it aims to achieve. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications from schools and eligible organisations within its geographic remit.
