Michael Bishop Foundation

The Foundation focuses on five main areas: arts and culture, heritage preservation, human rights and social justice, health and medicine, and education and training. Supported activities include arts productions, historic site conservation, programmes for LGBT+ youth, Alzheimer's research, disability services, and scholarships for disadvantaged students. Work must take place in the UK and be delivered by registered charities. The Foundation funds core costs, salaries, project delivery, and capital works, and supports multi-year partnerships.

Only registered UK charities can apply. The Foundation requires organisations to have at least one year of published accounts and a track record of delivery. Grants are not made to individuals, NHS hospital trusts, or organisations whose annual turnover is less than the grant requested. The Foundation supports work across the UK and does not have a religious restriction.

The Foundation does not fund animals, faith-based activities, sport or recreation, equipment, events, research, training, transport, feasibility studies, emergency appeals, or work that has already taken place. It also excludes campaigning or lobbying, endowments, contributions to other grant-making charities, general fundraising appeals, and applications from organisations that have been turned down in the previous 12 months.

The Foundation values strategic, multi-year partnerships and often identifies high-impact projects proactively. It funds core costs, salaries, project delivery, and capital works. Unsolicited applications are accepted, but the Foundation favours work that demonstrates excellence and broad-reaching benefits.
