BGF Foundation

The Foundation funds registered charities that are primarily focused on improving outcomes for young people. Its priority areas include youth development, education and skills, employment, mental health, and physical health. Support is provided as core costs, giving charities the flexibility to strengthen their operations and long-term sustainability. Grants are multi-year, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to patient, long-term partnerships. The BGF Foundation operates across the whole of the UK, supporting charities that work with young people in communities nationwide.

Registered charities based in the UK and working with young people across the country are eligible to apply. The Foundation looks for organisations that are primarily youth-focused, with a clear commitment to improving outcomes for young people. Charities must have a robust safeguarding policy in place and maintain an up-to-date record of submitting their annual report and accounts to their charity regulator. The Foundation does not support charities that require participation in religious activities as part of their services, nor does it fund organisations that re-grant funds to other groups.

The BGF Foundation does not support charities where only some of their work is with young people; the organisation must be primarily youth-focused. It also excludes charities that require people to take part in a religious activity as part of the support provided. Charities that re-grant funds to other organisations are not eligible. Additionally, all funded charities must have a safeguarding policy in place and be registered with the relevant charity regulator with up-to-date accounts.

The Foundation provides multi-year, unrestricted core funding. It does not require match funding. The BGF Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible charities. Its funding style is patient and flexible, designed to help charities build capacity and achieve long-term impact.
