Bradfield Foundation

The Bradfield Foundation is an independent registered charity established in 1990 to bolster Bradfield College, a co-educational independent school in West Berkshire, England. Its core mission is to advance the College’s charitable objectives by raising funds for transformative education, ensuring access to world-class schooling irrespective of family finances. Inspired by visionaries like inaugural chairman Michael Stone, the Foundation embodies values of access, inclusivity, ambition, and educational excellence, prioritizing the nurturing of untapped talent among young people from diverse backgrounds through sustained fundraising from parents, alumni, trusts, and international supporters.

It exclusively funds means-tested bursaries for pupil fees, academic and co-curricular scholarships (e.g., sports, sixth form), and major capital projects enhancing facilities, such as the Science Centre, Greek Theatre refurbishment, and St Andrew’s Church transformation. Beneficiaries are limited to current or prospective Bradfield College pupils and the College community, with all grants advancing educational access, infrastructure, or pupil opportunities—no support for external causes.

Unsolicited applications from external organizations are not accepted; funding is internal, administered via the College’s admissions process for UK-resident families (some UK-domiciled overseas). Bursary applications close 31 October prior to entry, with decisions in February/March; scholarships vary (e.g., 2026 entry: 7 October or 15 December 2025). Awards range from partial to full fees (over £40,000 per annum) or hundreds of thousands for capital projects. Trustees meet biannually for oversight.
