Brelms Trust CIO

The Trust supports community-led projects addressing poverty relief, health advancement, skills development, education, arts, amateur sport, and environmental conservation. It funds both core costs, including salaries and running costs, and projects that deliver direct benefits to disadvantaged Yorkshire residents. Themes include social inclusion, community development, health, education, arts, and environment at the hyper-local level. All funded work must take place exclusively within Yorkshire, with a focus on grassroots, small-scale initiatives.

Eligible applicants are small UK-registered charities that are fully based, managed, and operating exclusively in Yorkshire. The Trust prioritises organisations working with children, youth, older people, those with disabilities, or individuals facing financial hardship and social exclusion. Larger or national organisations are ineligible. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and seeks charities with strong local roots and a clear commitment to their communities.

The Trust does not fund religious or political activities, animal welfare, medical research, work outside Yorkshire, capital appeals, emergencies, or retrospective funding. These exclusions help focus resources on its core mission of poverty alleviation and community empowerment within Yorkshire.

The Trust provides funding for both core costs and projects, with grants typically awarded for one to three years. It emphasises long-term partnerships over dependency, with trustee visits and annual monitoring to support capacity-building and measurable outcomes. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and the Trust is open to unsolicited approaches from eligible charities.
