Buckinghamshire Community Foundation

Heart of Bucks funds a wide spectrum of community activity across Buckinghamshire. Their priorities include physical and mental health, reducing isolation and disadvantage, life skills and education, strengthening community cohesion, and protecting the environment. They also support arts, culture, sport, and recreation. Grants can cover new and expansion projects, core running costs, equipment, training, and events. The foundation funds work that benefits local people, ranging from services for children and young people to support for older adults and those facing hardship. All funded activities must take place within Buckinghamshire or directly benefit its residents.

Charities, community groups, social enterprises, and other not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. This includes registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, and unconstituted community groups, provided they are formally constituted and operate on a not-for-profit basis. Their grants are intended for work that benefits people in Buckinghamshire, including children and young people, older adults, people experiencing poverty or hardship, and ethnic minority communities. Individuals are not eligible for funding through these programmes.

The foundation does not fund individuals or activities that take place outside Buckinghamshire. They also exclude religious or political promotion, as well as organisations whose primary focus is animal welfare. For-profit organisations are not supported, except for CICs limited by guarantee. Groups that are not formally constituted or not operating as not-for-profits are also outside their funding scope.

Heart of Bucks offers both project-based and core funding, covering new and expansion initiatives as well as essential running costs. Their grants can pay for equipment, training, and events, alongside direct service delivery. They run several themed funds—such as those focused on youth and health equity—alongside a general fund for a broad range of causes. The foundation welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible local organisations and is known for flexible, responsive support tailored to community needs.
