Camden Giving

Camden Giving funds projects that contribute to its five core missions, including access to food, diversity in power, stronger communities, youth opportunities, and eco-friendly neighbourhoods. Supported activities include youth clubs, food banks, mental health initiatives, ethnic minority advocacy, and community forums. The charity runs several programmes: the We Make Camden Kit (offering seed and growth grants), the Equality Fund (addressing inequalities faced by young people, families, women, people of colour, disabled people, and care leavers), and the Future Changemakers Fund (a youth-led panel). All funded work must take place exclusively in the London Borough of Camden.

Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities, Camden-based community groups, schools, and individuals. Beneficiaries prioritised are young people, women, people of colour, disabled people, care leavers, and families. The charity particularly supports under-represented leaders and community-led solutions, with 70-80% of grants going to racialised community-led projects. Applicants must be based in or serve the London Borough of Camden. There is no religious restriction.

Camden Giving does not fund capital projects or emergency relief. For the We Make Camden Kit Growth Grant, only one grant per organisation is allowed, and applicants must have completed end-of-project reporting for previous grants. Grants are not paid into personal bank accounts. Some programmes, such as the Equality Fund and Future Changemakers Fund, are not open for applications.

Camden Giving uses a participatory funding model where residents with lived experience serve as paid panellists to make grant decisions. Grants are typically one-off, with seed grants of a modest size and growth grants available. The charity welcomes unsolicited applications and does not require match funding. All funding is restricted to the London Borough of Camden.
