Cayo Foundation

The Cayo Foundation funds charitable work across England and Wales within several priority themes. These include children and young people’s welfare, crime prevention initiatives, educational programmes, medical research and training, military history and heritage, and performing arts. The Foundation supports direct service delivery, research, training, and core costs, allowing charities flexibility in how they achieve their aims. It is open to both grassroots and larger organisations, provided they are registered charities under English law. All funded activity must take place within England and Wales.

The Foundation only accepts applications from organisations that are registered charities under English law. Applicants must be based and operating in England or Wales. The Foundation prioritises work that benefits children and young people, helps prevent crime, advances education, supports medical research and training, preserves military history, and promotes performing arts. There are no income thresholds or religious restrictions. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and encourages charities of different sizes to apply if they work within the eligible geographic areas and priority themes.

The Cayo Foundation does not fund organisations that are not registered charities in England and Wales. It also does not support work that takes place outside these countries. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals or to non-charitable organisations. Applications from outside England and Wales are not considered.

The Foundation provides grants through a rolling application process and accepts unsolicited applications from eligible charities. It can support both core costs and project costs, including direct service delivery, research, and training. The Cayo Foundation gives charities flexibility in how they use funding, without prescribing rigid programme areas beyond its stated priorities.
