Chalk Cliff Trust

The Trust funds a broad range of causes including youth schemes, children's activities, relief of poverty, care for older people, activities for people with learning difficulties or disabilities, overseas aid, environmental care, and regional arts, music, literature, and culture. It also supports other community initiatives. Grants are typically used for core costs, project delivery, salaries, events, and capital works. Funding is predominantly distributed in East Sussex, with most grants falling in a modest range suitable for small organisations.

Registered charities and community groups based in East Sussex, including Brighton & Hove, are eligible to apply. The Trust also considers organisations pending registration and pressure groups. It does not fund individuals. Priority is given to small, local groups delivering person-centred services for children, young people, older people, and disabled people. There are no restrictions on faith-based or evidence-based practices.

The Trust does not fund individuals or activities that take place outside East Sussex, including Brighton & Hove. It also does not support non-local initiatives beyond the county's communities.

Grants are usually made once per organisation, though repeat donations may be considered after a gap of at least one year. The Trust is flexible about how funds are used, welcoming applications for seed capital, core administration costs, or to help an organisation through a difficult time. Match funding is not required, and unsolicited applications are accepted.
