Support is available for feasibility research that helps frontline organisations assess whether their housing and support models are practical. Areas of work include addressing injustices faced by those in the migration, asylum and trafficking systems, with beneficiaries such as LGBTQI asylum seekers, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children aged 16-17, and newly granted refugees. The trust seeks to pilot, refine and share approaches that tackle acute exclusion through housing.

Only organisations may apply, including registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, and social enterprises. Priority is given to small to medium specialist partners with housing expertise and a commitment to evaluation. The trust works with frontline organisations that demonstrate potential for wider influence and are focused on creating housing-based solutions for excluded groups. There is no religious restriction.

They do not fund core organisational costs or general support that is unrelated to specific housing-focused projects. Excluded are any activities not directly linked to developing, testing or assessing a housing and support model for social injustice.

Commonweal Housing uses an action learning approach, blending philanthropy with social investment to fund feasibility studies. They partner with frontline organisations to test new models, and welcome unsolicited applications. Funding is project-specific and intended to assess viability, rather than covering core or ongoing costs.
