Denise Coates Foundation

The Foundation supports a wide spectrum of causes including healthy recreation and sports facilities, health and medical research, hospices, welfare and social inclusion, community development, arts and culture, education and training, and disaster relief. It funds project grants, capital infrastructure, operational support, and research, favouring substantial, capacity-building initiatives. While open to any geography, organisations based in Staffordshire, particularly Stoke-on-Trent, hold priority. The Foundation also supports work across England and occasionally internationally.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities and academic institutions of medium-to-large scale, capable of delivering substantial projects. Community groups may also be considered. The Foundation prioritises organisations with strong local roots in Staffordshire, especially Stoke-on-Trent, but is open to others that demonstrate mission alignment and measurable outcomes. There is no faith restriction. Beneficiaries are broad, reflecting the diverse causes supported.

The Foundation avoids unsolicited full applications, routine overheads, and non-charitable activities. It does not favour small or short-term programmes, preferring initiatives that build capacity and deliver lasting impact.
