The trust supports broad poverty relief activities, including individual hardship grants for destitute residents covering basic living costs such as utilities, rent arrears, and food insecurity. It also provides emergency destitution payments to prevent homelessness and eviction for families in crisis, core funding for local welfare services like drop-in centres, food banks, and crisis helplines, and flexible aid to intermediary charities delivering outreach, befriending, and practical support for isolated elderly people, single parents, unemployed adults, and low-income households. Interventions prioritise immediate, holistic relief over long-term projects, and all funding is restricted to Coventry residents and organisations serving Coventry.

Both individuals and organisations based in Coventry can apply. Eligible organisations include registered charities and community groups operating within the city. The trust prioritises residents facing poverty, homelessness, or sudden hardship, with a historic preference for women that now extends universally to any Coventry resident in need. There is no religious restriction. Organisations should have strong local roots and a focus on grassroots welfare delivery.

The trust does not fund capital projects, strategic capacity building, or activities outside Coventry. It also excludes thematic specialisms such as mental health counselling, disability respite care, youth employability training, and addiction recovery, focusing instead on universal poverty relief without condition or demographic silo.

The trust offers flexible, person-centred grants for immediate crisis intervention, as well as core funding for local welfare services. It provides no-strings aid that is endowment-sustained and values uncomplicated, direct relief.
