George Cadbury Trust (Edward Cadbury Section)

The trust funds Quaker-aligned activities across several areas. This includes spiritual nurturing through contemplative practices and faith communities that foster mental health wellbeing and emotional resilience. It supports education initiatives such as Quaker schools, youth work, mentoring, and skills training for young people building ethical leadership and social responsibility. Social welfare programmes addressing poverty relief, food insecurity, family support, and advocacy for social justice and inclusion of marginalised individuals are also funded. Peace-building efforts via advocacy, conflict resolution training, peace centres, and campaigns against violence and war are supported, alongside environmental care through stewardship projects, conservation advocacy, and sustainable community development promoting green spaces and climate justice. Community development schemes enhancing social cohesion, peer support groups, befriending for isolated elderly, and holistic services for vulnerable populations rooted in Quaker testimonies are also within scope. The trust operates throughout England and Wales.

Registered charities and faith groups aligned with the Religious Society of Friends may apply. The trust prioritises Quaker meetings, faith-influenced charities, and grassroots organisations that share its Quaker ethos. Beneficiaries include families in poverty, youth pursuing peace activism, isolated individuals seeking spiritual mental health support, ethnic minorities advocating justice, and environmentally conscious communities. Organisations must demonstrate deep values alignment with simplicity, peace, and justice principles.

The trust does not fund non-Quaker aligned work, secular organisations lacking a Religious Society of Friends ethos, or activities incompatible with its principles of simplicity, peace, or justice.

The trust provides long-term support for both core costs and projects through trust-based partnerships. It favours relational grantmaking that amplifies grassroots Quaker testimony, offering low-bureaucracy support. Unsolicited applications are accepted.
