George Elias Charitable Trust

The trust supports educational provision and training for children, young people, and adults facing barriers such as learning disabilities, special educational needs, and economic disadvantage. It funds poverty prevention and relief programmes tackling food insecurity, homelessness prevention, and financial hardship for families in crisis. Religious activities strengthening Jewish community cohesion are supported, including synagogues, youth programmes, and cultural preservation for people of Jewish ethnic origin in the UK and internationally. Health advancement through community health outreach, disability support including respite care and therapeutic activities, and inclusive services for individuals with physical disabilities, complex health needs, or autism spectrum disorder are also funded. Interventions include employment training, after-school clubs, peer support groups, mentoring, and carer support. The trust primarily operates in Cheshire East, Cheshire West & Chester, and Lancashire, with a geographic priority on Cheshire East, and also supports Jewish communities internationally.

The trust funds registered charities. It has a preference for faith-based organisations, particularly those serving Jewish communities, but also supports other charitable organisations addressing education, poverty, disability, and health. Beneficiary groups include children, young people, and adults facing learning disabilities, special educational needs, or economic disadvantage; families in crisis; people with disabilities; and Jewish communities locally and internationally. The trust favours organisations with community-embedded, evidence-based approaches over generic services.

The trust does not fund non-charitable purposes or activities that fall outside its charitable objects. Grants are only made to registered charities, so individuals and non-registered organisations are not supported. The trust also avoids funding activities that are not aligned with its focus on education, poverty alleviation, Jewish faith promotion, disability, and health. It prefers community-embedded, evidence-based approaches over generic services, and is unlikely to support projects that do not meet these criteria.

The trust welcomes unsolicited applications and funds through responsive grants. It prefers to work in partnership with aligned charities, supporting projects that demonstrate community-embedded, evidence-based approaches. Funding is directed towards both immediate relief and sustained community resilience.
