Hamilton Davies Trust

The Trust funds projects and activities that grow from the community up, covering Community, Education, Recreation, Regeneration, Heritage and Arts. This includes community development initiatives, education and skills programmes, sport and recreation opportunities, and projects that preserve local heritage or enrich cultural life. Grants are aimed at grass roots organisations, and can be used for costs such as uniforms and kits, as well as contributions to broader project costs. The work must benefit people living in Irlam, Cadishead and/or Rixton-with-Glazebrook. The Trust is particularly interested in small-scale, local initiatives that are initiated and led by local people, and that strengthen community cohesion and opportunity.

Applications are accepted from voluntary and community groups, including registered charities, community interest companies, companies limited by guarantee, unincorporated associations and social enterprises. Schools and colleges, parish councils, local authorities, sports clubs and faith groups are also eligible. Projects must be rooted in, and benefit people from, Irlam, Cadishead and/or Rixton-with-Glazebrook. The Trust prioritises grass roots organisations with local ties and welcomes applications for any amount. There is no requirement to provide match funding.

Funding is restricted to projects benefiting people in Irlam, Cadishead and/or Rixton-with-Glazebrook, so work outside these communities is not supported. The Trust also directs its grants to organisations rather than individuals, meaning personal applications cannot be considered.

Grants are made as one-off contributions towards specific costs, such as uniforms and kits, and can be for any amount. The Trust aims its funding at grass roots organisations and welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible groups. Match funding is not required. The overall approach is flexible and community-led, with grants supporting activities and projects from the community up.
