Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust

The Trust funds repairs, renovations, re-ordering and other capital works on existing church buildings. It also provides investigative grants for feasibility and development-stage work, along with interest-free loans to bridge funding gaps. Priority is given to churches of great historical merit or those that serve as community hubs. All funding is restricted to Christian places of worship within Herefordshire. The Trust's focus is on helping churches remain active centres for worship and community life through capital improvements and essential maintenance.

Parishes and managing bodies, such as Parochial Church Councils, of actively used Christian churches of any denomination in Herefordshire are eligible. The Trust only awards grants to churches that have become members. There is no specified income limit, but the Trustees look for evidence that every effort has been made to raise funds locally. Beneficiaries are the congregations and the wider community that uses the churches.

The Trust does not fund new builds, running costs, or projects outside Herefordshire. It also does not fund non-Christian places of worship or churches that are not members of the Trust.

The Trust offers grants and loans, all requiring evidence of local fundraising efforts. Its funding is designed to supplement, not replace, other sources. The Trust provides advice and development-stage grants alongside capital grants. It welcomes applications from its member churches.
