Hilden Charitable Fund

The Fund supports UK-based work focused on refugees and migrants, and people in contact with the criminal justice system. Internationally, it runs programmes in Malawi, Tanzania, and Uganda, supporting women and girls through community development, education, and health initiatives. It also funds summer play schemes that are inclusive of children from refugee families and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups. The Fund does not support arts, culture, faith, environment, health, animals, sport, recreation, heritage, or employment projects.

UK registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, and trusts can apply. Priority is given to organisations with a significant number of people on their boards or staff who have lived experience of the issues they address, or robust systems for lived experience to shape services. Organisations with a clear track record in delivering services and holding less than half of annual income in free unrestricted reserves are also prioritised. The Fund does not fund individuals, community interest companies, religious or political organisations, medical research, statutory services, or well-funded national charities with substantial incomes.

The Fund does not support individuals, community interest companies, religious or political organisations, medical research, statutory services or residential care, employment agencies or job-search projects, individual bursaries or scholarships, well-funded national charities, organisations with large annual incomes, projects outside the UK, or organisations that received two-year funding in the previous round.

The Fund offers both one-off and multi-year grants, and supports core costs, project delivery, and salaries. There is no match funding requirement. Unsolicited applications are welcome during specified open periods.
