Hiscox Foundation

The Foundation supports initiatives that promote social mobility, such as employment training and skills development for young people facing unemployment, people with disabilities, and care leavers aged 16-25. It also backs entrepreneurship for social entrepreneurs addressing poverty and exclusion, education access projects for disadvantaged youth and adults with learning or physical disabilities, environmental conservation and green initiatives, and causes that enhance social inclusion for elderly residents experiencing isolation and families in crisis. Funded activities include preventative skills-building, mentoring, outreach, and peer support groups. Geographically, the Foundation prioritises projects near Hiscox offices across England and Wales, with a particular focus on London and surrounding areas.

Registered charities and community groups based in England and Wales are eligible to apply. The Foundation particularly welcomes applications from grassroots organisations working with disadvantaged young people, individuals with disabilities, care leavers, elderly residents, and families in crisis. It also supports social entrepreneurs tackling poverty and exclusion. Projects should be located within a reasonable distance of a Hiscox office, with a stronger emphasis on the London area. There is no religious restriction on applicants.

The Hiscox Foundation does not fund core costs, unrestricted grants, capital projects, scholarships, event sponsorships, or grants to other foundations. It focuses on project-specific partnerships rather than general operating support.

The Foundation offers multi-year, project-specific grants that prioritise sustainable, evidence-based outcomes. It integrates staff engagement with its funding priorities and welcomes unsolicited applications. Partnerships are typically project-focused and aim for tangible, long-term impact.
